Task
Create a high-concept 3D animation for Bones Bearings that reimagines their iconic product through a gritty, cinematic lens. The goal was to modernize the brand’s presentation using hyperreal visuals that align with the raw energy of skate culture.
Bonus: Integrate aggressive motion design and high-impact visual storytelling.
Extra bonus: Deliver looping sequences for use in digital marketing and branded content.

Process
The biggest creative challenge was transforming a small mechanical component into the centerpiece of a full-blown visual story. I focused on achieving photorealism, treating the bearing as a product of engineering beauty—similar to how luxury automotive parts are shot. Scene composition, camera movement, and material realism all played a key role in building visual weight and immersion.

Solution
The materials were carefully crafted to reflect real-world surfaces—oil-slick metal, scuffed textures, micro scratches, and accurate lighting behavior. I used high-resolution displacement maps, cinematic lighting setups, and dynamic particle effects to simulate wear, speed, and impact. The motion design featured custom rigs to animate the bearing in ways that emphasize tension and movement without exaggeration.

Case Study
The final piece was presented to a mock campaign panel of creatives and skaters to evaluate its branding potential. The animation was viewed as a powerful marketing tool, with feedback citing its "Nike-level polish" and “perfect blend of attitude and product focus.”
